I love finding hidden gems in my backyard, and Taberna De Ignacio is literally five minutes away. Hidden in a Hialeah shopping center you'll find this quaint restaurant with traditional Spanish tapas and flare. Walking in you feel the warmth from everyone around you. The servers are happy and so are the patrons. Although this restaurant is  small it's favors are bid and leave a lasting impression. The soup was to die for.  Perfectly well balanced and traditional. Just looking over the menu makes you want to order one of everything. The portions are ample and the deserts are sweetly well crafted. Taberna De Ignacio is definitely a place I'll be visiting profusely.

I think it’s hilarious that a laundry mat is right next door. It is in the middle of a strip mall, then you walk in and you feel like you’re in a provincial taverna with a lost empire feel. Red faux leather seats, dark wood paneling, hanging hams and toreadors!

If you want a good, solid Spanish meal, with no bells or whistles, at a good price and with generous portions, come here. If you want just tapas and some drinks you will be impressed and highly pleased. But bare in mind: we’retalking simple décor and almost kitschy atmosphere.

NOTE: a fabulous Cuban-Spanish singer arrives at 7:30 on
Fridays & Saturdays to sing standards from all over the Spanish-speaking world.

When pulling in the parking lot, I noticed it was well lit so it was not hard to find the restaurant.  Upon entering we were welcomed by a gentlemen behind the bar and was told to sit anywhere we’d like. When our server came over he did not speak English but did try his best to understand us and for us to understand him. The gentleman that was behind the bar came over to assist us in offering his recommendations and answering any other questions we might have had. They brought out a generous portion warm bread with a great garlic flavored butter as well as pickled olives and then our appetizers. A friend of mine tried the chickpeas and pig feet soup and said that it was very good. After eating most of the appetizers they brought out our entrees but everyone in our party could barely put a dent in them because of the generous sized portions of the whole meal. We had plenty of food to take home to enjoy the next day.
