When I arrived on Sunday night I was able to procure a spot close to the entrance of the restaurant. Clematis was dead and the restaurant wasn’t busy. I went with a party of four my wife and I and my mother and her husband. We were greeted at the door and were walked to a table in the back of the restaurant adjacent to the open kitchen. When I looked at the menu I was saddened by the fact that they no longer carried the Jerry Garcia my favorite drink. I asked if they could make it for me anyway and they notified me they no longer had the house made vodka infused ice tea…stones fell from my eyes instead of tears…So I got one of their new cocktails which was inspired by the song Black Muddy river. The name of the drink is “the last rose of summer.” I switched out the Tito’s for the Perfect Vodka as I always like to support local business and love the smoothness of Perfect. The drink was delicious I also enjoyed the Monk in the Trunk organic amber ale with my sandwich. The beer was crisp and refreshing. The Appetizers came out quickly. I ordered the rock shrimp and sampled the squash blossoms, shallot rings as well as the brussel sprouts. I enjoyed all of them except for the shallot rings which were poorly executed and just didn’t work thinly cut and fried=no flavor other than breading. Definitely needed thicker cuts. My Mother is allergic to pine nuts and her brussel sprouts were garnished with them. She asked about it and was visibly upset but the waiter did not offer to bring her a replacement, which showed his general aloofness. The salads came out shortly after and were enjoyed by my guests. The wait between the entrees and the salad was rather lengthy about 20 minutes. The entrees were enjoyed by most everyone. I wasn’t in love with the pork sandwich that was made Philadelphia style with pickled red onions, broccoli rabe and provolone. There was too much bread and it seemed a day old to me. When I toasted it in the oven the next day it actually tasted better. My guests enjoyed their burgers and salmon. However, my wife commented that she could not taste the gorgonzola cheese. Then the service began going downhill. As we were finishing our meals the waiter was nowhere to be seen. He casually walked in from the back wreaking of cigarettes and didn’t apologize for the delay. We ordered the salted caramel ice cream and the crème brulee. The wait between ordering the dessert and receiving it was also rather long as the waiter showed pictures to a colleague at the bar. The brulee wasn’t creamy and was warmer than room temperature. The salted caramel ice cream was probably my favorite part of the meal. Going to restaurants on a Sunday evening can be a crap shoot and we crapped out. I will probably not be back.

I made a reservation at Hullabaloo restaurant so they sat me immediately. It took a while for the waiter to come over and greet me (about 10-15 minutes). When he did come, he was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. The atmosphere was nice and had candles on the table with a Halloween theme. The bathrooms were clean and the food was very good. I had the Gnocchi with mushrooms and parmesan but it was bland. The sea scallops I had for dinner were AMAZING. Everything tasted so fresh. The bread pudding wasn’t that great because it tasted like they used the Pillsbury cinnamon rolls for it and just poured sauce over it. I only took a few bites out of it and asked my waiter if I could get it to go. When he came back over he told me that someone bumped into him and it fell on the floor, he then said that they will take 50% off my bill and I told him that I only had a few bites of it and would like for the total amount to be off my bill, but they still charged me 50% of it.

Hullabaloo has an imaginative menu with great choices of yummy foods and the funky décor only adds to the entrée experience. We were seated by a hospitable hostess who wanted to please regarding our seating choice. The wait staff arrived immediately, was uniformed and helpful with food choices. We enjoyed the creativity in taste and presentation. The restaurant was huge and full and there is a great parking garage a few doors down. The décor, service, portions, price and quality are all top shelf..
