There’s plenty of parking in the newly paved lot with more than ample parking for the establishment. After reading the reviews we determined that they get very busy around lunch time so we planned accordingly. Upon arrival we noticed that yes, in fact, they do get very busy. So much so, that we sat outside. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise because we discovered this beautiful covered patio area with ceiling fans adjacent to a manicured park. After our number was called, we retrieved our food and couldn’t believe the ample portion size and also, the incredible aroma coming from the Shrimp and Grits. What stands out the most for me is that this family has been in business since 1975 combining recipes from both sides of their family and has not only managed to remain in business throughout the difficult economic past year but has flourished throughout the Urban Renewal and Total Transitional Rebirth that has taken place in the area.

We absolutely loved our food. Look, you’re not coming here if you’re a health freak (although they may have some options for you, if you are). It’s buttery Southern food, in the best way. Both of our dishes had loads of homemade cheesy grits and fluffy scrambled eggs. My corned beef hash was as good as you can make it – but my god, those shrimp were some of the best I’ve ever had. Grilled, buttery and perfectly cooked. We just loved them. I was glad to see a line of people ordering when we headed out. I’m so happy we had the chance to go here and learn about this place – it’s definitely one I would recommend to others to check out.

There was plenty of available parking spaces near the entrance of the restaurant. I could smell the nice aroma of seafood before entering the restaurant. No one was at the counter when I entered the doors, one customer was seated and waiting for their order About 2 minutes later the cashier, receptionist returned from the kitchen area with an order to bag up. I was politely greeted and when asked I answered that I was there to pick-up. She asked my name, found my order that was already in a takeout bag. The eggs were fluffy, the grits cooked to perfection and the biscuit enjoyable. I will definitely order again!
