When shopping with my clients at Aventura I always recommend we have lunch at Café Bistro @ Nordstrom. It provides the perfect atmosphere and food to rejuvenate and continue shopping. Everyone I take there has always been impressed, and vows never to go to the food court again.
I typically arrive at Café Bistro in need of a break from shopping. My favorite is the Nicoise Salmon Salad, so I almost always order that, but have tried many other items and have never been disappointed. I find the staff to be interested in attending to you and lighthearted. It feels like a retreat from the activity of the mall because of the low lighting and the colors and the set up. The manager always comes by to check on you personally and make sure all is well, which is a nice touch. Finally they give you chocolate mint sticks after your meal instead of hard red and white candy, it’s a nice way to finish off the perfect lunch.

We walked into the restaurant on the 2nd floor of Nordstrom’s in Aventura, tucked in the corner. We were greeted by a host at a cash register who informed us of the process order first at the counter, pay then get seated. We perused the menu, decided on our dinner and were seated. The host and our server were extremely friendly. We sat at a booth and had a glass of red wine. The décor was modern and the service punctual. We first got our salad which was large enough to share. It was a delicious mix of cilantro shrimp, corn, tortilla crisps, tomato, cheese and lettuces among other things. It was extremely pleasing to the eye in terms of color. The salad exhibited a great contrast of textures. Then after a short break, our main meal arrived which was risotto with shrimp and asparagus in a lemon broth. It was somewhat disappointing in terms of flavor. The shrimp and asparagus were served on top of the dish, which was not what I expected as shrimp and asparagus risotto usually would mean that the shrimp and asparagus were in the risotto. I thought this was a little disconnected as the risotto could have been the side to the shrimp and asparagus. Moreover, it was lacking flavor if not for the lemon broth. Next we were served the delectable white chocolate bread pudding, which arrived in a berry juice. It was an amazing mix of flavors. We then received the check and the meal was over.
