We were lucky enough to find parking right outside Café Bonjour. The parking lot is very convenient. Once we opened the door to the café, we were met with the smell of melting chocolate and a beautiful display case of pastries. We sat ourselves at one of the cute wooden, bistro tables and waited for a while for someone to come by. Eventually, the owner stopped by to take our drink order. It was a bit of time in between before she was back to get our meal order, but when she did, I ordered the mushroom quiche with salad. As we waited for our meal, I noticed a mix of families eating, and young couples getting pastry and coffee to go. The vibe is very French country bistro with its intimate size, small wooden tables and pastry case. In the background, classical music was playing, contributing to the laid back atmosphere. It took a while for my quiche to come, but when it did, it was worth the wait! The eggs were light and fluffy, complemented by the taste of the mushrooms. The flaky crust holding it all together was perfect. Greens with a light homemade dressing brought the meal together making for a top notch breakfast. Paying for the breakfast was a little slow though. We never got a check, and ended up having to go to their counter to ask for one and pay what we owed. Although there were slight glitches in service (no one ever came to ask how our meal was) – and we ended up having to seek out our check, the quiche and quaint atmosphere made it all worthwhile.

We arrived as a family of three to a very regular French style looking restaurant. The place was the typical storefront location with a large oversized kitchen area in relation to the crowded seating area. The owner who wears all service hats asked if we had reservations; after a yes, we sat against the wall. The place is pleasantly designed to please the taste of people who enjoy authentic homestyle French food. We ordered drinks, the bread with authentic Beurre D’ Isigny Doux tasted very home like. The meals came without too much wait to give us for the most part pure enjoyment.

We will definitely go back to Cafe Bonjour for a casual business luncheon with a business acquaintance when we need to form a down to earth, quality business relationship. Our family already has a planned steak and frites dinner affair for next month. It is a great place to recommend for connoisseurs of French cuisine but not the general public. I will be able to show off with all my French relatives that I know or a great little place to eat.

The restaurant was only ok; I wouldn’t recommend it as a first choice. There are numerous similar and much better cafés in the area. I had difficulty finding the restaurant as there was no signage on US1 or over the restaurant itself. While the eggs were wonderful, the portions were unacceptably small. We had to order a fruit cup to supplement -- the fruit (2 strawberries and 1/3 of a banana) baguette, eggs. We were charged for additional bread and coffee refills. We were disappointed as the websites food looked and sounded so good. Too expensive for the product.
