As I arrived the valet immediately collected my keys and directed me up the stairs. The view was so alluring, I decided to dine alfresco. I was seated promptly. They came over with menus and I chose the Lychee Blossom drink. It was divine— the perfect combination of elixirs and fruit flavors topped with a single purple orchid petal. My appetizer selection was the fried prawns with aioli dressing, it was flavorful. My entree selection was the grilled scallops served over a bed of grilled onions, red peppers, corn, and topped with watercress. My absolute favorite was the dessert. The coconut custard was presented as a sphere infused with a passion fruit reduction over a bed a bed of lychees and raspberries. The prices are moderate. The portions could be larger. The service could stand some polish. The view as I enjoyed this meal was transcending.

Great ambience and design. It’s on the beach and has easy valet parking. Excellent service by Ari and Mitch. They automatically brought out a black napkin. There are three separate kitchens. You can sit outside, inside or at the interior bar that has an open style kitchen. It’s sharing style— items come out at different times, but if you want them together, they can arrange that. For starters, I had their take on aperol spritz with a touch of Japanese Yuzu and a bottle of sake. The fried brussels sprouts and the octopus was very good. I had two sushi rolls; they were fine but nothing special. Kampachi with a hint of truffle and arugula. For dessert, I had smoked coconut mousse with raspberry and lychee confit and mango sorbet with passion fruit. They were both excellent. I also tried their matcha iced tea with a touch of mango syrup. It’s a very diverse menu with a variety of options: fish, vegan, vegetarian and meat. Would definitely recommend. It’s great for groups and a date night!

Ascending the east tip of Hallandale Blvd past Ocean Drive/AIA, I turned behind the Hyde Hotel to see Surf Road magically arise from the sea revealing the emerging levels of ETARU. Valets immediately greeted me, informing me of the elevator or stairway options to enter. I chose the stairway to take in the lovely salt air and ocean view. I gave my reservation name and was immediately seated oceanside at a square wooden table among others. Glancing at the menu, I was aware of the sounds of lapping waves with “instrumental” disco music, customers soaking in the relaxing vibe. The lovely, casual elegance gave me the feeling of being seaside at a restaurant in Japan as I’d seen on travel shows. The food was fresh and delicious from the light and crunchy panko shrimp appetizer to the zesty, fiery spiced New Zealand lamb chops with cooling cucumber spears and sweet soy-grilled asparagus – both topped with light, nutty sesame seeds. Chilled wild plum sake served as a natural aperitif between bites. Coconut mochi and mango ice cream balls pleased the palate for the dessert finale. The portions were perfect – filling but not too much. The meal was a really good value for expected dinner prices. The service was stellar— having had the opportunity to enjoy my waitress, Sviatlana from Belarus. She quickly moved among many international customers speaking various languages at their surrounding tables and she was equally attentive showing sincere interest to us all.
