La Fresa Francesa is in an unsuspecting area, from where it is located you wouldn't expect the inside to be so charming and inviting. The décor makes you feel as though you are secluded in a charming, French chateau filled with antique pictures and special lighting. The staff was very friendly and well versed with the menu. French music played in the background that set the mood perfectly. The food came out quickly. I was adventurous and tried the duck, and I'm glad I did. The rich center was perfectly sandwiched between a crispy crepe and served with a side salad that had hints of sherry and shallots. The portion was large and filling but we still had some room for dessert and a coffee!

The strip mall can be deceptive. The owners (Chef and Maitre'd greet you at the door, warm and welcoming. All of the staff is very friendly. Combining a regular menu of French food with Cuban twist and innovative daily special selections, we wanted to order everything, but had to settle with sharing (my wife and I) Two appetizers, entrees and desserts. Everything is outstanding and price is very reasonable. For example, the lamb chops are around $40 and are better than any other steakhouse $75-$80 lamb chop entrée. Combining mussels with Roquefort cheese is hard to make but tasted delicious. Similarly, the foie gras with guava was unlike any I have ever encountered in French bites in France! Desserts, especially the crepes are "to die for," as was the "Squid Ink Tagliatelle" (with langostine, sea urchin and chili!)

La Fresa Francesca is an adorable French Bistro in Hialeah that is definitely getting a lot of buzz. They draw a very friendly crowd and people were taking selfies and pictures of their food as dishes came out. It has a wonderful ambiance and very romantic feel - combined with nostalgic French music you would almost think you were dining in Europe. The waitstaff is very knowledgeable and quick and attentive. Whether you come wanting sweet or savory dishes, there is literally something for everyone on this menu - The Egg Cocotte with the Truffle butter was divine. The only other place I have had this dish was in New Orleans at Chef Besh's Restaurant August. The Sandwiches were the real deal - brie was sweetened with homemade jam and the Croque Monsieur was very savory. The Cortadito was perfection with the crepe which was lightly sweetened with powdered sugar and had the proper amount of butter. I would highly recommend this restaurant to the luminaries out there - Writers, artitsts, musicians, intellectuals and most of all romantics. This menu will challenge you and make you fall in love with the culinary dining experience all over again. Chef Benoit is a perfectionist and he and his wife run an excellent establishment. Hands down five stars. What a gem!
