The Staff all were extremely friendly and accommodating. Our entire dinning experience was fun, delicious and affordable. I highly recommend Mrs. Mac’s – The menu is extensive and you will need about 3 visits to try various items and see where their strengths lie.

My husband and I drove down to Key Largo on a Saturday afternoon to try Mrs. Macs. We had driven down the weekend before on a Sunday and found that they are not open on Sundays! That was my first negative opinion about them, Sunday is a great day for us Miamians to take a drive down to Key Largo and stop off for lunch or early dinner, so Mrs. Macs not being opened on Sunday definitely takes away from Miami locals trying their restaurant. The parking lot was packed with cars, thus validating its popularity. The staff greeted us when we walked in and took us promptly to our seat. The décor is the best part of this restaurant. It is full of old license plates from people who have visited them. Some are signed with the date they ate at the restaurant. The lamp shades were made from old plates as well and there were dollar bills on the ceiling signed from the visitors they have had thru out the years. You could feel like this was both a local hangout as well as a tourist recommendation. Unfortunately my experience wasn’t as positive. Our server wasn’t unpleasant, but was not pleasant either. My husband asked her some questions about how they prepare their fish and she responded by saying “ it’s all listed on the menu for you to read” she didn’t make us feel as she wanted to take the time to explain any questions we may have had. I ordered from the daily special board; which was very lengthy. I ordered a mushroom shrimp bisque. It was not bisque in my opinion, it was more of chowder, and frankly I believe it was cream of mushroom soup with shrimp added to it. My husband ordered conch fritters which were soggy. For our entrees I ordered the servers recommendation of hogfish basket, which was prepared English fried. The batter fry was good; the fries were soggy as well. (My husband’s fries were also soggy). My husband ordered grilled Mahi and it was not a grilled piece of fish, I believe it was pan seared. Grilled fish should have grill marks and it was a little oily from the pan. For desert we ordered a slice of key lime pie – it came partially frozen! There were ice crystals still in the pie. Overall we left there deflated, we were so excited to try this place; but unfortunately we were not impressed.

There are two large neon signs on both sides of US-1. Whether your re traveling South or North you must see the signs. Very large parking lot with handicap parking available. I was attended to as soon as I walked in the door. I was sat promptly with several menus. All the customers looked like there were having a great time. There are numerous menu options so everyone can enjoy it. The food was served hot, and the portions were plentiful. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others. The menu is quite large and there are many different offerings that would appeal to your quests.
