Shawarma was my pick because I’ve lived in Kendall for over 20 years and there are few healthy and Mediterranean options. It is refreshing to have Middle Eastern food at an affordable price because fast food, although readily available in Kendall, is very unhealthy. Shawarma provides quick, healthy, fresh affordable food in an area lacking all of the above. Simple place, yet fresh, Middle Eastern food and fast service for good price and pleasant personnel.

Parking was easy, there’s plenty of it. Upon entering, I walked straight up to the counter and grabbed a menu. I finally decided on everything I wanted and ordered. She read the order back and handed me my receipt and a buzzer. Food didn’t take long at all but considering at this point I was still the only person to enter the building and what I ordered I would expect nothing less. When the buzzer went off I approached the counter and handed it in and was given a tray with my food on it. The hummus was creamy and flavorful but had way too much olive oil poured on top. I drained some of it onto a napkin. The pita seemed like it is made fresh in house which was very nice and tasted well. The Beef Shawarma Wrap on the other hand was not as successful. The beef was very tough and was completely over powered by the tahini sauce. The flatbread used for the wrap was also too tough. The baklava for dessert was nice. This place did not impress me enough to make me want to go out of my way to visit again.

The first thing I thought when I arrived was “this is it?” That didn’t discourage me at all though; I have found some real gems in small hole in the wall places. Dining there really is not much to say, it is more of place to order and pick up your food and take to go. The décor was simple, white walls with picture frames that represented Mediterranean culture. I ordered the Beef Shawarma Wrap, Rice Pudding, and Yogurt mint flavored drink.
