I can literally walk there; it’s close to home and one block away from the beach. I was seated immediately and the service was pleasant and attentive. The portion sizes are rather generous, and the food has been consistent for the past three years that I have been going there. The food is fresh and made to order. The price is high compared to the other beach dining options. The atmosphere is very open and family friendly. It’s a very relaxed go to place when we don’t feel like looking. Great place to start or end a day at Hollywood beach.

Dining at Taco Beach Shack has got to be one of the worst, if not the worst dining experience I've ever had. Taco Bell rates 5 stars over this shack. I absolutely would not recommend this shack to anyone; a disgrace to the food industry.

From the moment I parked the car and walked alongside Taco Beach Shack, I knew it was going to be a nightmare. The "karaoke-like" live band would have been thrown off any other stage. After rounding the corner, we were greeted by a busboy lugging a smelly garbage can to the dumpster. Finally, after 2 attempts to find the right entrance, we walked up to the bar to ask if we should seat ourselves. After being told to sit anywhere, we did. Our waitress had some funny one-liners... from "your table is our waiting area, it could be 30 to 40 minutes until you are served." to "if I tell you 30 to 40 minutes and it's only 20, then it's like reverse psychology." Nonetheless, we stayed despite being starving and looking forward to the place due to the website. Well, the ambiance was horrible. The table of 6 drunken women dancing to horrible music sucked the life out of the shack. The service was that of a college bar with inexperienced wait staff. The portions of food were a good size, it was just too bad the food wasn't as good as the portions. The quality of the food was very poor. I must say, I've never experienced such an evening. After taking two bites of our entrees (not sure how we got past the first bite), I asked for a check. I couldn't wait to leave. Our waitress said "did it get you?" It sure did. It got me a belly ache the whole way home. I really thought I was on an episode of "Candid Camera" I was waiting for someone to jump out and say this whole experience was a joke. All in all Taco Beach Shack has a new name in my book, Taco Beach Shanty Shack! Avoid this place like the plague. I'm unsure how they received "the best" of anything! Taco Beach Shanty Shack has the possibility to be a groovy spot, if only they closed and let someone else reopen it! Someone who knows the industry!

Taco Beach Shack is a casual, local eatery with some interesting takes on Mexican classics. We arrived in the mid-afternoon after a rainstorm, so the place was nearly empty. We received a friendly greeting and a good description of the food choices from our waitress. Ambience was a little lacking, but an evening visit may have been better. The food took a little long to come out, but it was worth the wait- very pleasantly surprised. Food was hot, fresh, and seasoned well.
